Biography

"I started making music because I needed somewhere to put all the noise in my head. Even when I was little, I always would try to circumvent tradition with my stuff. I had a ukelele as a kid, and I remember trying to play it by bowing it with a screwdriver. During the COVID pandemic, this "noise" so to speak became more stressful. Everything going on really put pressure on me and so I made harsher things to get it all out. I don't really talk much in person, so this is really my main way to blow off steam. Sometimes it's harsh, sometimes it's calm.

Personally, I remember sounds better than I remember events. The hum of old lights, the static between FM stations, the way the analog switches on my pedals click. That's the stuff I build from. I really like sampling for this reason. I hear a song and I take out specific snippets in my head that I think can be repurposed into a bigger collage.

If there's a theme running through what I do, it's that I want things to feel honest, even when they're messy. Especially when they're messy. It certainly isn't about perfection. It's about the characteristics of different sounds, the pressure that can wash over you from a wide wall of them, the emotions that a simple chord change can make you feel, et cetera. I don't really think of myself as a storyteller, but I do try to evoke moods a lot. I just try to have some fun with it." - N.N.
